Patrick Mahomes II played both college football and college baseball while attending Texas Tech University. In his junior season, Mahomes led all NCAA Division 1 players in passing yards and passing touchdowns.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Patrick Mahomes with the number 10 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Mahomes was the second quarterback selected after the Chicago Bears selected Mitchell Trubisky with the second pick and just prior to the Houston Texans picking Deshaun Watson with the twelfth selection in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Patrick Mahomes had to wait until Week 17 of the 2017 season to receive his first career start after the Kansas City Chiefs elected to sit Alex Smith with a playoff birth already secured.

In 2018, Patrick Mahomes exploded onto the scene with a stellar season as the Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback. Mahomes threw for over 5,000 yards and tossed 50 touchdown passes. For his impressive season, Mahomes was awarded the NFL Most Valuable Player Award in 2018. Mahomes was also named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and earned his first Pro Bowl nomination in 2018.

Patrick Mahomes is the current starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs and has proven to be one of the top stars in the NFL.
