Von Miller attended DeSota High School in DeSoto, TX where he was the District 8-5A Defensive MVP in his senior season. Along with football, Miller competed in track & field during his high school years. Miller chose to commit to play for the Texas A&M Aggies instead of the Florida Gators, Ole Miss Rebels, Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Miller provided an instant impact for the Aggies defense as he was named Freshman All-Big 12 by The Sporting News. Despite showcasing his pass-rushing skills as a freshman, Miller found himself in a new role with the Aggies adopting a 4-3 scheme during his sophomore campaign.

However, Miller played the "jack position", a defensive end/linebacker hybrid position, in his junior season with Texas A&M. It was in this role which Miller thrived as he led the nation in sacks and finished as the No. 4 player for tackles for loss.

Miller continued to thrive as a pass rusher in his senior year with the Aggies. He missed the first six games but still managed to post 10.5 sacks with 17.5 tackles for loss. Miller also won the Butkus Award, the trophy given to the nation's top linebacker.

Entering the 2011 NFL Draft, Miller was projected to be a top-five draft pick. The Denver Broncos surprised analysts and fans by picking Miller with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. It was a confusing selection considering the Broncos were moving to a 4-3 scheme which didn't seem to mesh with Miller's skillset. Executive Vice President John Elway called Miller "a type of guy that comes around every 10 years."

Miller made an immediate impact in his first game as professional, causing a forced fumble against the division rival Oakland Raiders on his first play from scrimmage. Miller earned his first Pro Bowl nod and won AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in his first season in the NFL after recording 11.5 sacks.

Miller set a Broncos franchise record for most sacks in a season with 18.5 sacks, which was also third-best in the NFL that year. Miller was second in voting for Defensive Player of the Year and earned his first All-Pro nod.

In the 2015 season, Miller became the third-fastest player in NFL history to reach 50 career sacks. The only two players who did it quicker were NFL legends Reggie White and Derrick Thomas.

In Super Bowl 50, Miller helped lead the way for the Broncos defense to stifle Cam Newton and the top-ranked Carolina Panthers offense. Miller had two strip-sacks along with six total tackles and was named Super Bowl MVP.

Miller was named as the second-best player in the league by his fellow players in the NFL Top 100 Players of 2017. That season saw Miller enjoy his fourth consecutive season with at least 10 sacks.

During the 2018 season, Miller recorded his 100th career sack. He became the fifth-fastest player in NFL history to achieve that mark. Miller was selected to the Pro Bowl once more, his seventh overall and fifth consecutive Pro Bowl.

Miller is the Broncos franchise record holder for career sacks, most sacks in a single season, most sacks in a single playoff game as well as career sacks in playoff games.
