2022 NFL Mock Draft 2.0: Part 1
It's Super Bowl week! Although we are typically known for our sports mystery boxes, specifically our NFL Mystery Boxes, we also like to dabble in things outside of autographed jerseys and signed mini helmets. So without further ado, here are the first 10 selections of our 2022 mock draft!
Jacksonville Jaguars - Kayvon Thibodeaux, Defensive End - Oregon
The Jags have gotten their new head coach, and even though he has an offensive background, he should look to grab the best player in this class. Thibodeaux is an absolute pass rushing monster and will instantly become the best player on their defense.
Detroit Lions - Aidan Hutchinson, Defensive End - Michigan
Dan Campbell wants some knee biters and Hutchinson is definitely a player that fits the mold. They also seem to want to build their team in the trenches which once again makes Hutchinson a good fit. At the end of the day, the Michigan boy stays home.
Houston Texans - Ikem Ekwonu, Offensive Tackle - N.C. State
Ekwonu has been flying up people’s boards, and it’s for good reason. This kid is an absolute tank. This pick allows the Texans to give another year to Mills to see if he can be the guy. If not they will have a high draft pick next season and use that on a much better QB class.
New York Jets - Evan Neal, Offensive Tackle - Alabama
The Jets have invested a decent amount of capital into the O-line lately, but Neal can play all over the offensive line and any time you can improve your line for a young quarterback, you do it.
New York Giants - - Kyle Hamilton, Safety - Notre Dame
Hamilton is the definition of “built different”. At 6’4 and 220 lbs he has the frame of a linebacker and the speed of a corner. Any defense would be lucky to have this kid.
Carolina Panthers - Malik Willis, Quarterback - Liberty
With how he performed this past week in the Senior Bowl, Willis has really elevated his stock. Previously, it looked like a real possibility that no quarterback would go top 10, now Willis seems like a lock. Add in that he could sit a year behind Darnold and that’s a great scenario for him.
New York Giants (via Chicago Bears) - Kenyan Green, Guard/Tackle - Texas A&M
Despite Andrew Thomas playing better in year 2 than in year 1, this Giants offensive line is still a major concern. Offensive wiz Brain Daboll is now the new HC and could use someone like Green to help protect Jones and Barkley.
Atlanta Falcons - George Karlaftis, Defensive End - Purdue
I’m not sure that this team knows what direction it’s heading. When in doubt though, pass rush is ALWAYS a good option. Karlaftis was a monster in the BIG10 this past season and would be an extremely valuable piece in this defense.
Denver Broncos - David Ojabo, Edge - Michigan
Well, Von Miller was moved into greener pastures and he is now playing in a Super Bowl. The need to figure out how to replace him and Ojabo could be that guy. Good athlete with a great motor.
New York Jets (via Seattle Seahawks) - Garret Wilson, Wide Receiver - Ohio State
Zach Wilson improved greatly as the season progressed. The Jets already helped him by getting offensive line earlier in the draft and now it’s time to get some playmakers. Garrett Wilson is an extremely refined receiver and has the explosiveness to make the impossible catches. This offense could be ascending soon.
