AFC South
Indianapolis Colts - 2022 Prediction 11-6 - Wins AFC South
2021 looked like it could be the year where the Colts could make some noise in the Playoffs. However, after an embarrassing loss to Jacksonville kept them on their couches on Wild Card Weekend, things needed to be reevaluated. That means Carson Wentz was moved to the Washington Commanders and in came Matt Ryan on a white stallion. Pairing him with young players like Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman Jr and 2nd round rookie Alec Pierce, this offense could have its best season yet.
Likewise, this defense is one of the more underrated units in the NFL. Over the years they have acquired talented players like Darius Leonard and Deforest Buckner, but this offseason they also added Stephon Gilmore and Yannick Ngakoue, which could take them from good to ELITE!
Tennessee Titans - 2022 Prediction 10-7
One of the most shocking moves of the offseason was when the Titans traded their young star receiver, AJ Brown, to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for the Eagles 1st round pick. The Titans used that selection to take wide receiver Treylon Burks from the University of Arkansas. So far, Burks hasn’t left the best impression in camp, but his raw tape alone is rather impressive. The Titans also added veteran receiver Robert Woods to help give them a bit of extra depth and the leadership they need.
Despite all of this discussion about the passing game, this is still a run-first team. Derrick Henry led the NFL in rushing yards for 2 straight seasons and he was well on his way to his 3rd straight before injuring his foot and costing himself most of the 2021 season.
Houston Texans - 2022 Prediction 4-13
For as bad as things were, Houston played about as well as could be expected in 2021. This team basically traded away any and all talent that they had on their roster and on top of that, their starting quarterback was sitting out the entire season. However, a very pleasant surprise came in the form of rookie quarterback Davis Mills. With very limited resources and weapons, he was arguably the 2nd best rookie quarterback last season, behind only Mac Jones.
The Texans invested heavily into their secondary during the draft with 2 of their first 3 selections. The biggest name of those 2 is Derek Stingley who grew in popularity due to his ability to lock up both Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase in practice on a regular basis.
Jacksonville Jaguars - 2022 Prediction 3-14
That is correct, we are once again projecting the Jacksonville Jaguars to be the worst team in the NFL. After the dumpster fire that was the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, one would assume that things can only get better. However, with an incredibly risky number 1 overall pick in Trevon Walker, and the 3rd coaching staff in 3 years, it’s hard to imagine that things get much better. The one glimmer of hope for this franchise is Trevor Lawrence. Hailed as “the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck” there is still a chance that he can turn things around from his abysmal rookie campaign.
